Thailand has a well deserved reputation for being the land of beautiful woman. Over the years, the women have acquired a reputation of being friendly and interested in meeting foreign men. If men interested in Thailand are honest to themselves, most will acknowledge that the loveliness and perceived availability of Thai ladies has played a large part in their interest in Thailand.

Meeting Thai ladies, while probably easier than meeting Western women, isn’t so easy either…at least it often isn’t so easy meeting the kind of woman one wishes to meet. Before considering the “how to meet them” part however, one must honestly contemplate what it is one wants…some things are easier to accomplish than others. Does, for example, one want a “one night stand,” a wife, a soul partner, a kinky sex partner, a woman that can be a friend, a “nice” girl, a slut…? While it might be possible to have many things in one package, it usually isn’t. What one wants will determine how one searches. One must also acknowledge that communication problems are going to make the search difficult. It is very frustrating when one realizes that one meets many Thai ladies everyday but they literally speak a different language…one you probably can’t speak!!

A go-go girls: most of these ladies are attractive and come from poorer backgrounds. Communication and communication skills are not so important in this world. Beauty  is everything. These ladies are fairly young, in their early and mid 20’s, and some would make good wives but most are simply concerned about catching a man for a night and moving on. They are encouraged by their employers to develop a very mercenary way of thinking. Most men can’t afford their time or services for too long. If one is looking for something more lasting, this is the wrong place to look. One must always be aware that many ladies in A go-go clubs have substance abuse problems.

Beer bar girls: the work setting is different from the A go-go work setting. The music isn’t as loud and the girls are more available for conversation. They will generally chat for quite a while at very little cost. They usually are not as attractive as the A go-go girls but they can have better communication skills. Many are in the beer bar to look for a boy friend or husband, not to find a one night stand. Of course, these ladies come from poorer backgrounds, and have little education and few job skills. Many of these girls are “nice;” they are just poor. A fair number of them have children, so beware. Most have obligations to their families and send money home. Most of them are looking for a man to fill the role of “provider,” and take care of them and perhaps their family also. In Pattaya and Phuket, beer bar girls tend to be younger than A go-go girls, although a  substantial minority are a good bit older.

Traditional Thai massage ladies:  a fairly large number of reasonably attractive ladies work in traditional massage places because they do not want to have casual sex and value their reputations. They are usually a little older than the bar girls, many have been married and they usually have children. They come from poor backgrounds and don’t have much education…but many have experience working on farms, restaurants and in factories. Having a massage is a good way to determine if a lady has any attraction to you. If they speak English, one can have nice, fairly private conversation. These ladies are usually open to marriage…maybe to having a boy friend. And, they appreciate the physical aspect of life.

Bank and hotel public contact employees: banks and hotels are good places to meet ladies, especially if one sees the lady over a period of time. These ladies have some education, and do usually speak some English. If they are available, they might be interested in meeting a “nice” foreign man.  These ladies usually have not been married and do not have children. One must remember, however, that these ladies are usually very concerned about propriety and reputation; and are usually interested in marriage and, eventually, having children.  They are not interested in casual relationships. The hard part about meeting these ladies is coming up with excuses to keep going into the same bank or hotel!!

Convenience store clerks: the ladies of 7-11 and Family stores are hard working, capable, attractive, fairly young and friendly. Some are usually interested in foreign men. They usually, however, can’t speak English very well and are too busy to chat. They are, though, worthwhile to know. One gets to know them by going to the same stores regularly.

College and university students: for many men, these are the ideal romantic targets as they often have some English language ability and don’t have children. They usually do not have boy friends and some want to meet foreign men. Some are interested in “adventure” and “fun.” The problem is meeting them. A few of these ladies make money on the side working in bars, but not many. Most are involved with their school life and friends, and don’t have time to meet men. Some study English and this is an opening for aspiring romantics. It is also possible to meet them at cultural activities, such as art exhibits, or at food courts near their schools or a t large shopping malls.   The best way, of course, to meet is through a personal introduction or through other friends. One should have a somewhat serious and respectful approach to these women as they, unlike bar girls, are accorded the full protection of Thai law…which means “messing around” can lead to big trouble…for you.

English  language students: female English language students come from a variety of backgrounds and are usually interested in friendship with  foreigners…although maybe not romantic relationships! They are not necessarily interested in marriage and family as they have career goals and so forth. Teaching English either formally or informally is a good way to meet girls! There are, however, ethical problems one should consider.

Internet chatting: a good number of Thai ladies are online these days in various chatrooms to meet foreign men. In general, most are older  “company” and “office” ladies.  Most have children and have been previously married. They are usually quite serious and want to get married. Their idea of “good chat” is to talk about your job and income. If you are serious and looking for a marriage partner, these ladies can be worthwhile. Not many ladies of the night use the Internet, perhaps because their ability to use written English is poor. Thus, the Internet serves to filter out these “undesireables.” Of course, if one wants to meet this type of woman, it is easy enough to do…just not online!!

Romantic and marriage introduction agencies: a number of agencies will introduce foreign men to Thai ladies for a fee. Most of these agencies promise to screen ladies and provide contact only with ladies of good reputation and character. One must take these claims with a grain of salt as maybe the agency does this and maybe it doesn’t. One should also be careful about paying up front fees. It is definitely helpful if one is already in Thailand and can check out the agency personally. The ladies one meets through these agencies might be genuinely nice ladies. It is definitely a positive sign that they have consciously decided to seek out foreign men. Many of them have satisfactory jobs by Thai standards so they are not “losers.” Many are open to moving overseas. Almost all seek marriage…not friendship or “fun.” Most of these ladies are somewhat older, with an average age in the very late 20’s.

Anywhere and everywhere: Thai ladies, it seems, are anywhere and everywhere in Thailand…on the streets, in the food courts, standing in lines, waiting on customers in stores, waiting for buses, riding the Skytrain in Bangkok, and actively hunting husbands in Pattaya and on Phuket Island. Certainly the sincerely interested man will be able to meet ladies in the course of their day-to-day life, as long as they are ready, willing and able.
