There is a bad experience visitors to Pattaya often share. It is being asked to pay an additional sum of money for bringing an overnight or short time guest to one’s hotel or guesthouse room. It is a terrible surprise to learn that, after spending a nice sum of money for a night on the town, you are now being asked to spend maybe more than 1000 baht to bring a friend to your room. This is in addition to whatever money you are giving your friend and her club, and to what you have already paid or agreed to pay the accommodation. This fee is called, in polite language, a joiner fee.
A joiner fee is a sum of money paid to a hotel or guesthouse for an additional guest who stays in your room. Some joiner fees are incidental, no more than a hundred baht, and might be justified in terms of a real service a facility can provide such as taking the guest’s ID card and calling you as the guest leaves to make sure you are alright. But usually, the joiner fee is just a grab for your cash. If at all possible, no one should pay this fee.
Visitors to Pattaya should always try to stay in a “girl friendly hotel” if they want to save money because these hotels do not charge a joiner fee. Actually, the majority of accommodations in Pattaya are girl friendly. Below is a list of girl friendly hotels compiled from different sources. The hotels on this list tend to be a little pricey but they are generally convenient to Pattaya’s nightlife. Almost all of these accommodations are either on the beach road, between the first two beach roads, or just north of the second beach road. The list, however is incomplete and does not include guest houses. Furthermore, rates and policies about fees change frequently, so travelers must always do their homework. It is definitely possible to find suitable hotels not on this list.
Areca Lodge Hotel: located on Soi Diana, it is a ten minute walk from the walking street and is generally considered the best of the girl friendly hotels in Pattaya. It is fairly new, has two swimming pools and costs 1,200 baht a night with breakfast.

LK Renaissance Hotel: it is located on Soi Diana across from the second beach road and is a mid priced – around 1,800 baht a night - three star hotel. The walking street is a 15 minute walk away, and the beach is only five minutes distant by foot.
Flipper Lodge Hotel: located on Soi 8, it is a three star facility and is in the middle of the night life. It is also a short walk from the beach.
Sunshine Hotel and Residence: like the above it is also located on Soi 8, near all the action…or at least much of it!! It is highly recommended and rates begin at around 900 baht a night.
Sawasdee Seaview: this hotel is one of the least expensive on this list. It is located at 302/1 Moo 10, Soi 10 Pattaya Second Road. It has a two star rating and 157 rooms. It is steps from the beach and has a swimming pool and gym.
Honey Inn Pattaya: located at 529/2 Soi 10 Second Beach Road, this hotel is probably the least expensive on the list. It has received mixed reviews but should be okay for partiers.
Diamond City Place: 513 Moo 10 South Pattaya. It has 67 rooms and a swimming pool. It is “not far” from the walking street. Rates begin at 770 baht during the slow season and 1000 baht during high season. It is convenient to the Jomtien Beach baht taxi route.
Diamond Beach Hotel: it is located at 499 Beach Road, very close to the walking street and the nightlife. One of Pattaya’s oldest hotels, it gets mixed reviews but should be ideal for partiers. It has a swimming pool. Rates begin at 1,000 during the slow season and 1,200 during busy season. It is convenient to the Jomtien Beach baht taxi route.
Sabai Lodge Hotel: located at 308/5 on Soi 2, this facility has a three to four star rating, and is located near the action on the walking street. Rates begin at around 1,200 baht a day.
Pattaya Center Hotel: located at Soi 12 Beach Road, this accommodation has 260 rooms, a three star rating and is near the beach… and a lot of the action. It gets mixed reviews. The basic internet rate is 2,000 baht a night.
Tim Boutique Hotel: this 76 room accommodation is located on Soi 14 at the second beach road near the Carrefour store. It has a rooftop swimming pool and gets very good reviews from former guests. Rates begin at 2,200 during low season rising to 3,100 baht during high season.

LK Metropole: this LK hotel is located at 33/55 Soi 10 Pattaya Second Road. It has a four star rating and is convenient to the nightlife near Pattaya Klang road…Sois eight and nine.
Marriott Resort and Spa: this five star hotel is located at 562 Soi 10 Pratumnak Road, close to the walking street. Prices are steep.
The following girl friendly hotels are located in Jomtien Beach, or on the road to Jomtien Beach. It should be noted that Jomtien Beach has developed an active nightlife independent of Pattaya Beach although some of the accommodations on the road to Jomtien are alittle isolated. These hotels are: Romeo Place, Eurostar International Hotel, Lee Garden Resort Hotel, Jomtien Orchid Hotel, Naris Art Hotel, Mind Resort, Best Western Pattaya, Mantra Pure Resort, Citin Loft Pattaya, Sugar Hut
Guest Houses: Most guest houses do not charge joiner fees but some do so one must always inquire. Furthermore, some guest houses – which are often run by families that bring with them their own sense of morality – actually lock the doors of the accommodation at a certain time to prevent girls from coming in…or male guests from going out!! Some simply prohibit their legitimate from guests from bringing guests in regardless of how much money might be offered. Therefore, one must always check what the policy on joiner fees and lady friends is before agreeing to a night’s stay at a guest house.
A tip: those who find themselves stuck in a hotel that does charge a joiner fee might consider taking a friend to “short-time” hotel if their intention is a “short time”” and not a “long time.” This might seem to be self defeating but it might actually cost less to do this than to take a lady back to their hotel. I might also be safer, too.
