Beer Bars in Pattaya
The main difference between open beer bars in North America, Canada, New Zealand and Australia is that in Thai open beer bars, you more often than not are able to drink your beer outside, while enjoying the scenery, the view, and the beer, while relaxing with friends or travelling companions. Another key difference between beer bars here, and beer bars elsewhere, is the service. You are bound to notice the difference between your regular servers, and those in Thailand. For a start, there are always many to attend to your needs. In some cases it seems that the staff outnumber the customers. And another thing you will notice is that the servers will always have a happy smile --- it is not for nothing that Thailand is called the "Land of Smiles". All your favourite brands of beer are likely to be available here, along with some very good, and very inexpensive local brews. The atmosphere in these open bars is very different to that in traditional public houses. Those are more relaxed, generally quieter, and are more family friendly. Beer bars are often frequented by groups of men, sitting round tables in the yard, knocking back 'tinnies' of their favourite beverage. Something else you are likely to notice is that many of the open beer bars do not actually have any walls. They are of typical Thai construction; that is they have a roof, and four corner pillars or posts to hold the roof up. This is to take maximum advantage of any whiff of wind stirring the air, which can be very hot and humid at certain times of year. Usually this type of bar does offer a selection of Thai snacks for their customers to enjoy with their drinks, and many will also offer such things as fried chicken or burgers and fries. Traditional Thai food may also be available. Thailand has a very large number of expatriate residents who, with their Thai wives, open businesses such as pubs and beer bars to cater to their fellow countrymen on visits to Thailand. Because of the huge diversity of foreign residents, there are also a huge number of different bars and pubs. Many are concentrated in Bangkok and Pattaya but they can be found in just about every city in Thailand. So when you are packing for your trip to Thailand, there is no need to bring cans of your favourite beer. It is almost certain that you will find exactly what you are looking for in Thailand's pubs and open beer bars. |
