Jomtien Beach

Jomtien Beach: this beach is located south of Pattaya Beach, just over the Pratunak Hill, a five to ten minute baht bus ride from the intersection of South Pattaya Road and the second beach road.

Jomtien Beach is often considered to be the entire stretch of beach south of Pattaya although actually it is the stretch between the police stations where the Jomtien Beach Road intersects Thepprasit and Chaiyapruk roads. It is generally nicer and better than Pattaya Beach.

It is longer (six kilometers versus four kilometers), wider, cleaner, quieter, has a better separation from the Beach Road, has nicer trees and in many places is less crowded than Pattaya Beach.

It is possible to find semi-deserted stretches of beach, especially in the south. It also has a small army of beach masseuses ready, willing and able to serve guests. Beach lights make it possible for guests to enjoy the beach and swim all night if they wish. Parts of the beach, however, are very crowded, if for no other reason than the beach is wider.

The beach road – which handles two way traffic -  has become quite dangerous to cross and is unable to handle the large volume of traffic.  An army of venders roam the beach and can be annoying.

As in Pattaya beach, one can rent beach chairs and umbrellas, order food and drink on the beach, and rent jet skiis or other water sport equipment if one desires. As in Pattaya Beach, chains of fluorescent buoys have been placed in many locations to protect swimmers from the jet skiers.

Toward the southern part of the beach, there are fewer of these barriers.
